Daniel Callahan was last seen by friends late Saturday, March 8, after attending a gathering in Chicopee, Massachusetts. When he failed to return home to East Windsor, his family grew concerned and contacted police early the next morning.

As East Windsor police launched a missing person investigation, Chicopee police responded just after midnight Sunday to a report of a possible person in the Connecticut River. Officers initially found nothing but returned later that morning and discovered a chilling scene — a vehicle Callahan had been driving submerged in the water near Walter Street.

Dive teams located the black Toyota Camry registered to Callahan’s father in 18 feet of water, but Callahan himself was nowhere to be found.

Police continue conducting interviews, checking surveillance footage, and pinging Callahan’s cellphone, but so far, those efforts have led to no breakthroughs.

Investigators from both the East Windsor and Chicopee police departments are working to piece together what happened between the time he left the party and when his car ended up underwater.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the East Windsor Police Department at 860-292-8240 immediately.

Callahan is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and approximately 140 pounds.
